What is Bio-oil?
Bio-oil is a collective term for a mixture of several kinds of vegetable oils and fats applied specifically to durable energy production. The chemical structure of bio-oil is a mixture of vegetable triglycerides. This is the main difference between bio-oil and oil from mineral sources such as fuel and diesel oil.
Bio-oil is:
- CO2-neutral
- non-toxic
- biologically degradable
- completely free of sulfur and chlorides
- calorically equal to mineral oil
Advantages of bio-oil are:
- 100% pure biomass and therefore CO2-neutral energy production, the power produced is officially labeled “green energy”.
- Direct application in various types of energy power stations, both in larger as well as smaller stand-alone electricity and biomass stations, heating installations and boilers.
- Energy available whenever desired.
- Easy to transport and can be stored for long periods without loss of quality.
- Can be used in combination with gas, or instead of mineral oil and gas.
- Can be supplied with KIWA (Water Supply Testing and Research Institute) certificate for Liquid Fuels. We have been KIWA certified since December 1, 2005.
